IP Litigation Secretary / Legal Assistant

We're assisting our client that's seeking an experienced IP Litigation Secretary / Legal Assistant to support attorneys in fast-paced intellectual property litigation. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of California State and Federal court procedures, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage complex litigation tasks from filing to trial. Position can sit in Silicon Valley or San Francisco offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Court filings in CA State & Federal courts using File & ServeXpress and PACER/CM/ECF
  • Trial support including logistics, binder prep, exhibits, and on-site assistance
  • Legal research using Lexis, Westlaw, PACER, and agency sites
  • Prepare subpoenas, stipulations, motions, and templates
  • Edit, proofread, and redline pleadings and correspondence
  • Manage billing tasks, prebills, expenses, and vendor invoices
  • Maintain attorney calendars, travel arrangements, and meeting logistics
  • Organize paper/electronic files and track deadlines
  • Handle client/matter intake and conflicts checks

Qualifications

  • MUST HAVE 5+ years of IP litigation experience. This is not a patent litigation desk.
  • Strong knowledge of CA court rules and e-filing systems
  • Experience supporting trial teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and maintain confidentiality
  • Travel may be required for trials
